A Physical Challenge and Time for Reflection in the New Year

man out in nature for physical challenge

Starting the new year with a few big challenges is a tradition I’ve maintained for some time now. At the business level, you’ll hear more about @StartUpWithFeras in the near future. On a personal level, I wanted to take this challenging hike to the top of the Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve in the eastern foothills here in San Jose, California.

I started the journey bright and early, but due to all the rain, the park leading to the trail was closed! It was cold and a bit windy, very tempting to go back home :). Then, I decided to take a different route and head to Mt. Hamilton road and hiked 5 miles up and 5 miles down… enjoying the scenery and reflecting on 2022 and envisioning what can be accomplished in 2023. It was very refreshing mentally, physically and spiritually.

While hard work is required for every important endeavor, I find that time away from direct work provides critical breathing room for reflection, recharge, and creative inspiration that usually doesn’t happen when you’re hammering away at a keyboard.
